Resiliency Through Recovery: ED Support Group for Adults

The Resiliency Through Recovery group is an Eating Disorder Support Group that provides a safe, compassionate space for individuals working on recovery from an eating disorder. Led by an experienced, licensed therapist with specialized training and expertise in eating disorders, the group utilizes evidence-based strategies to guide group members through their healing journeys. The group focuses on fostering emotional, psychological, and physical recovery through open discussion, education, and practical exercises aimed at improving self-esteem, body image, healthy relationships with food and maintaining recovery.

Topics covered in this group:

-Coping with Triggers and Stress in Recovery

-Cultivate Self-Acceptance and Building Body Acceptance

-Preventing Relapse and Maintaining Recovery

-Strengthening Recovery Through Support

Group Structure:

-Duration: 8 sessions

-Frequency: Weekly (45 minutes per session)

-Format: Telehealth via Simple Practice

Goals of the Group:

-Create a safe, non-judgmental space where members can share experiences and receive support in recovery

-Build healthy coping mechanisms for managing emotions, stress, and triggers related to eating disorders.

-Encourage members to shift away from harmful body ideals and focus on developing a more healthy and compassionate relationship with their bodies.

-Help members prepare for future challenges by creating a relapse prevention plan and understanding that recovery is an ongoing process

ACT for Anxiety

The ACT for Anxiety group meets weekly and will be facilitated by a licensed therapist trained in ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). ACT is a modality built on principles that are empirically-based; this group aims to increase psychological flexibility while utilizing a mindfulness-based approach and facilitate behavior change strategies for clients 18 and older struggling with anxiety. This group will cover the essential components of ACT and give participants opportunities to apply ACT focused strategies to manage anxiety symptoms.

-Committed Action-Willingness

-Acceptance

Group Structure:

-Duration: 8 sessions

-Increased ability to manage and cope with anxiety in everyday life, reducing its interference with daily functioning.

-Reduced self-judgment, leading to greater emotional resilience and a healthier relationship with anxiety

-Take actions that align with personal values despite anxiety, building confidence and resilience through consistent, value-driven behaviors

-Enhanced resilience and the ability to cope with future challenges in a healthy, values-driven way, ensuring long-term anxiety management and well-being
